Hike a gorge of moderate difficulty into interior Puerto Rico, discovering its steep rocky walls, a running stream, and finishing at a majestic waterfall. Come see the matchless beauty that is our tropical forest.
Quick Details
This combination tour starts with an overview of Old San Juan with continuing service onto the Rainforest outskirts in Rio Grande.
During approximately 2 hours of touring in the city, we stop at several key sites. Some of these include the State Capitol, El Morro’s battlefield, San Juan Bautista Cathedral, and Plaza de Armas.
Later you visit the rainforest outskirts in the rural countryside east of the city. You walk along a short interpretive trail (15 – 20 minutes) along the banks of the Mameyes River, ending at one of its pools for swimming time.
Next up is a roadside dive that shouldn’t be missed, the favorite stop for foodies and workers alike. The possibility of acquiring seasonal fruits and veggies (like avocados) along with delicious fruit shakes makes this an attractive stop to many. Souvenirs are available too.
The river swim only happens under secure conditions (weather allowing). The climatology in the vicinity of the Luquillo Mountain Range may dictate that our visitors and guide avoid entering any portion of the riverbed.
On occasion, the river is not a viable option, so we present you with alternative swims at Luquillo Beach or Vacia Talega in Piñones.

Visit the rainforest, hear of its lore and importance to Puerto Rico, and then wade in or soak up the sun on the golden sands of Luquillo Beach.
